CONTROLLING BOARD RELEASES INITIAL FUNDING FOR ADDITION TO LITTLE DARBY SCENIC RIVER CORRIDOR
The Controlling Board released initial funding Monday for a $1.4 million purchase of 174 acres in Madison County as an addition to the <http://rol.freenet.columbus.oh.us/odnr.html>Little Darby Scenic River Corridor, "one of the most biologically diverse, yet threatened stream ecosystems in the state."
Acquisition of the acreage is a cooperative project involving the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, the Division of Wildlife, Division of Natural Areas and Preserves, and Franklin County Metro Parks.
Legislators approved release of $243,366 through the Division of Wildlife to help buy 100 acres as the first phase of the addition. The Division of Natural Areas will contribute another $365,064, and Metro Parks $250,000, bringing the total to $858,430 for the 100 acres.
The second phase involves the Division of Natural Areas' purchase of an additional 74 acres for $631,550, using a Water Resources Restoration Sponsorship Program Grant.
ODNR said that when the acquisition began, a partnership called Riverwood Investments LLC owned the entire 174 acres. The partners subsequently formed two separate companies called Sovereign Communities Inc., and Possumbilities LLC, and the land was split between the partners. The property most recently sold in 1998 for $469,900.

That is certainly better than them selling to a developer like M/I! I would say that group made a nice litte investment on their 1998 acquisition.

I would of figured that 1.4 mil would buy all of Madison co., not just 174 acres. I figure this to be good news.
