I'm looking to get one for christmas and was wondering what I should get. I know quite a few here have them and am looking for some feedback. I've got my eye the Garmin Rino 530HCX, but don't know if I really need the radio part of it. Cost isn't too much of any issue, but at the same time, I don't want to spend more than I really need to. I also like the Garmin GPSMAP 60CSx which doesn't have the radio function. As for add on software, What if any do you use, I was looking at the Garmin map source topo 2008 software.
Basically any help or opinions would be great, thanks.

Im not up on the hand held GPS units available, but my buddy Duane uses a Garmin eTrex Legend and its SWEET.
Every float we go on he uploads that section onto his unit and he can tell you exactly where we are, how far we've gone, how far we have to go, even what our avg. MPH is...and of course you can save those "big fish" spots.
I will have one of my own for next season thats for sure..would be great on a new section of water during a solo trip....you'll always know how far you can push it up til darkness.

Yeah Scott, almost everyone I fished with this year had one and I thought that I needed to get one. Well one way past dark excursion proved it would of been very good to have.

the 60 c is a good one brock the radio is handy. especially on big rivers like the new and potomac. but here at home its good to have when you need to tell me to get over here to get a picture! i would not get the rino 120 i have. its durability is questioned heavily.

I ended up getting the 60csx. I got it bundled with the software at Dicks for $500. Pretty nifty so far, hopefully it will work out.
I've got a few off my favorite routes mapped already.....
