TOSA launches its 2010-11 meeting season with "Who Owns Ohio Streams?" an informative talk by ODNR's Lenn Black. Every angler of Ohio's streams within driving distance should hear this presentation! Only one week to go. If anybody is reading here, I hope some of you can make it. If so, of course, please find me and offer your howdy. I believe a late dinner and Board of Trustees meeting will follow, where you'd be welcome to sit in as well (although you can't vote if not on the board).

Al, here is a brief summary I shared with the Ohio Canoe Club:
We had some great discussion, but the gist of the laws dictate that stream beds and banks are privately owned land unless held in public trust(though that doesnt mean public access either unless designated). We also found it is difficult to define navigable waters when it comes to creeks and streams. Some in Ohio have been established due to precedent(previous court cases). Though, if you are on one and it hasn't been determined then you could find yourself in a court room doing your best to establish a precendent for a particular stream flow.
