Hahahaha! That's great. I have a bold idea for an Erie trip next year. Plenty of time to discuss at the fall/winter meetings.

Our boat had a slow go at Canadian smallmouth. A few fish, all of moderate size (approx. 15-18"). I lost the biggest two I had on. We changed tactics and went to drift-and-cast for walleye on the ridges between Buckeye, South Bass, and Middle Bass Islands. In that last 1.5 hours, we managed to bag 16 walleye amongst the six on our boat. My son and wife took four each.

Mid-July smallies can be tough. Open to new ideas, like Kyle hinted at. Our boat fared worse than Eugene's. Slow fishing day, but always fun to hang with friends old and new!
