I thought I would post this from the other site to see if any TOSA regulars are planning on going:
The second Buckeye Rodeo will be held June 10-13 at my friend (and local paddle shop owner) Steve Early's fish camp located on Paint Creek west of Chillicothe Ohio. (Zip 45601) The camp is located on the right side of St. Rt. 772, 4.2 miles from the Paint Creek bridge as you drive southwest out of Chillicothe. If you pass the canoe livery, you have just went 200 yards past the camp. There is an older model trailer with a full-length front porch where you pull in. I will also try to have signs posted. I'll be there beginning June 7 if anyone wants to show up early.
If coming from the south on US 23/104 or from the east on Rt 50 or Rt. 35, take the Eastern Avenue exit and drive into the south side of town (near the paper mill). Eastern Avenue will turn into 8th Street and then dead end into Paint Street. Turn left on Paint and follow 772 out of town. (the Paint Creek bridge mentioned above is just past the Valero gas station)
If coming from the north on Rt 23, take the Rt 207 connector to Rt 104 just north of town and enter Chillicothe on Rt 104 / High Street. Or if coming from the west on Rt 35, take the High Street exit and turn right at the bottom of the ramp. High street will dead end into Main Street (Rt. 50) turn left, go two blocks then turn right on Paint street. Stay on Paint street untill it turns into Rt 772 and you leave town.
If coming from the west on Rt. 50 , turn right (south) onto Blain Highway (couple miles past Bourneville on Rt. 50). Follow Blain for 5-6 miles until you come to a stop sign. Turn left on Rt. 772 (you will pass Huntington High School) and drive 4.5 miles to the camp (200 yards past the canoe livery) on the left.
Camping will be "primative" again this year as there is no electric. Steve is allowing us to use his place to camp but we need to pay for a couple Port-a-johns. I'm sure he will also allow us to use some of the firewood he usually has cut and stacked. Cost per person will depend on how many show up. I'm hoping to have a few extra bucks to "sweeten" the pot so he will continue to allow us to use his place each year if we want to. Last year it ended up we pitched in $15 each and there was enough extra for him to add extra gravel to the road, which should help out this year if it is wet again.
