While fishing a tournament on the Ohio River, I caught a small keeper and commented to my partner that this smallmouth looked kinda funny and he replied, "that isn't a smallie". Happy to just have a keeper, I let it go and kept fishing. Later at the weigh in i pulled that fish back out and started again with the smallie talk and my Partner said,"that's a meanmouth". Guys, I've looked them up on Google but still am not convinced to what a meanie is really . Any help is appreciated.
I have a picture of a similar fish, how do I put it up here?

I know a lot of guys don't really care for the spotted bass. I have never heard of them referred to as a meanmouth, but I guess that could be what it was. It's the only thing that makes sense to me.

I've heard the term or name used by a couple folks before, but never asked the definition.
I thought it may have been the odd looking bass. Some look like a natural crossbreed of spot, largemouth or stripe. Their color and patterns were definitely odd.

"Meanmouth" is a common name for hybrids between Micropterus spp., usually referring to a cross between spotted and smallmouth basses.
