I used to keep one every year for other species, just a simple spot, bait, weather, water conditions, ect.
This year I put more effort into my log and include things like the USGS water levels ( in FT. & CFS) for that stretch for that day, lures used, numbers and species caught, maybe even exact spots that the big ones were caught from...and of course weather conditions, ect.
How about you guys, what things do you keep in your log ?

Scott, I use Google's Gmail account for email. It comes with a spreadsheet that is 100% shareable with any other persons that also have Gmail. You just have to approve them.
Anyways, I keep track of CFS, water temp, air temp, weather, water clarity (estimate), # Bass, # other fish, hours fished, date, stream, # fish 16"+.

I did for about 4 years while collect scale sample for ODNR and tail clipping for a Case Western study.
I have one of the ISA log books I'd consider using.
I haven't gotten back into the pattern of filing my fishing reports the past 3 years.
I propably ought to consider trying this season.

buying a digital voice recorder to do this very thing. working on a notebook to keep track of temperature both air and water(william joseph digital thermo) barometric pressure(lacrosse xg55 watch) weather conditions, weight(berkley tec) lenght(seamstress tape) digital camera(kodak) kodak easy share software. you can create files with descriptions and photos with captions. record information of all the above and any feature of the area fished. lure used etc.etc. you can play back anytime and jot down all info for future reference, or relive a special moment happy fishing

I have sevearl pocket log books the Illinois Smallmouth Alliance uses. I can see if its something we might be interested in using.
I'll get a couple copies for others to review.

I don't keep a fishing log for bass and such. Though, the ODNR has an amazing online source for Musky fishing. It is called the Musky Anglers Log(MAL) and it enables anglers to track their catches online and this is useful information to the DOW so they know where to stock and how many fish and such. However, the tool is extremely user friendly and allows for all sorts of input by the angler for weather conditions, time of day, water clarity, lures used, and on and on. It's really a great tool for the anlger to capture data from fishing trips. I would love to see something like that available online......or maybe we could design our own "template" and share it with everyone in the group. This might be a good discussion topic at the next meeting?

I haven't fished enough the last two years to create a short story, log or memo.
Done more paddling than angling.
Save most notes in my onboard hard drive. Knock on wood!
